Aid Available for Short-term Study Abroad Programs

What types of financial aid can I receive for a short-term study abroad program?

Short-term study abroad programs are defined as experiencing lasting less than one semester in length. Typically, these programs are affiliated with enrollment in a full-term course even though travel may be much shorter.

There is no special funding for these types of short-term study abroad programs. If the experience is connected to a course you are earning credit in and if you will incur expenses while you are enrolled in that course (e.g., program fee), the Office of Financial Aid (OFA) may be able to add the additional costs into your educational expense budget so that you can borrow additional loans. OFA does not offer any special grant or scholarship funding for short-term study abroad programs, but we encourage you to explore potential scholarships through the program coordinator and/or your school/college.
