My financial aid offer doesn't include a loan. Can I still get one?
Your eligibility to borrow a loan depends on a number of factors, including your overall eligibility for federal aid, your previous lifetime borrowing history in federal student loan programs, your enrollment at U-M, and how much other aid you are receiving.
Financial aid offers will automatically include the aid that you qualify for at U-M, including federal student loans. If your aid offer does not include a student loan, it is likely that you don't qualify for one or more reasons.
If the loans you have been offered are not enough, or if you don't qualify for traditional federal student loans and need to do some additional borrowing, supplemental borrowing through parent PLUS (for dependent students) or private educational loans.
