Fixing Microsoft Office Runtime Error

If you get a box that says Microsoft Runtime is installed on this machine. You must start Microsoft Office be double-clicking a Microsoft Office file, or by running a Microsoft Office application from a command prompt with a database specified when you open a Microsoft Office application, uninstall the Runtime component from Control panel and restart after the uninstall completes.

  1. Go to the Control Panel App
  2. Go to Programs and Features
  3. Find Microsoft Office Runtime in the list and single click on it
  4. Click the word Uninstall at the top of the list
  5. When you get a prompt asking you if you want to uninstall it, click Yes.
  6. Once it finishes installing, restart your computer
