Installation

To install Microsoft Office 365, go to the Software Center icon and double click on it. Find the Microsoft Office 365 installer, mark the box and select INSTALL in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. After you have clicked on the install button, you will receive a message about downloading the programs. The download will go through 100% then the screen below in figure 1 will appear.

Note: The installation time will vary depending on your computer and internet speed if you are installing from home, as I believe most of you will be. It is suggested that you start this installation at the end of your day and allow it to run over night. You will have to reboot in the morning.

This is the next screen that will be shown during the installation process. This is a good indication that the installation is proceeding as normal.

Once the software finishes installing, this is the screen you should see. You will also see the screen that in in figure 4. On to the activation of the Office 365 products. As noted from the icons above Teams is installed with Office 365. There will be a separate document on teams and an ITS training link within that document.

To sign into U of M Office 365 click the sign in button. Enter your unique name and password.

This is the Microsoft activate Office 365 screen (Figure 7.), sign in with your email address. It will take you to the DUO login page, log into DUO as you would any other time. Then answer the prompt on your cell phone. As in Figure 8.

This is the standard DUO screen (Figure 8.) as seen in several other applications at the university.

Now you will see the Accept the Microsoft license agreement. Click on Accept you are all set. This copy of Office 365 will work when you are not connected to the internet as the individual app have been installed onto your computer. You should notice your name toward the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
