Printing From Home

Tags printing

The options for printing when working from home are as follows:

Not printing on paper but saving documents as PDF files, either through Save As, or Print, and selecting PDF as the output format in both cases. You will then be able to send the documents as e-mail attachments.

ALL SPH faculty and Staff have access to Adobe Acrobat, which enables editing PDF documents.

When a signature is required, we recommend digital signatures via SignNow, available to all UM faculty and staff. One caveat: in order to request an account on SignNow, you will need to provide a valid shortcode, although no charges are currently being applied.)

When printing on paper cannot be avoided, printing on your home printer is an option. Just make sure that no sensitive information is left on that printer.

Last but not least, you may print to your networked departmental printer. Just make sure you are connected via VPN, and then select that printer for your print job. Just keep in mind that you, or someone else on your behalf, will have to retrieve that printout. Also, try to use the printer’s security feature (when available) that releases the printout only after someone at the printer enters a numeric passcode, to assure that sensitive information is protected.
