Connecting Chromebooks to MFlint Wireless Network

This article is intended for current students, faculty, staff, and alumni who need access to the UM-Flint campus wireless (Wi-Fi) network.

Requirements

To connect your device to the university's wireless network, you will need your uniqname and current password. In addition, you will need to have a computer with wireless capability. 

What is MFlint?

MFlint is a secure wireless network option available on the University of Michigan - Flint campus. Active faculty, staff, students, and alumni with a U-M uniqname and current password can connect to the MFlint network by connecting to the MSetup network first to configure their device. You cannot connect to MFlint directly before configuring your device.

MFlint is a more secure certificate-based connection. Once this configuration has been completed on the device, it can connect for one year before the process has to be repeated.

To configure a Chrome device to use MFlint:

 

1. Go to go.umflint.edu/MFlint to see the following screen:

2. Click on Install JoinNow and then you will be forwarded to the Chrome Web Store. Click on “Add to Chrome”

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)After the file is downloaded you should see a popup stating that JoinNow MultiOS has been added to Chrome:

3. You should now be able to go back to go.umflint.edu/MFlint and now this time see a “Sign In” option:

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)After providing your username and password then clicking Login you will be prompted to DUO

 

4. Now you should be brough to the go.umflint.edu/MFlint page once more. This time it will give the option to Download after providing your credentials. Click Download for the ONC configuration file needed for the Chromebook to connect:

5. You will have to do the following steps after you click on the Network tab:

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) If it’s already present then the following message will be present saying that the cert has already been installed:

6. Now you will be able to click on the MFlint wireless network and be able to connect (MFlint-IoT showing, but click on MFlint from the list):
