Intended Audience
This article is intended for current students, faculty, staff, and alumni who need access to the UM-Flint campus wireless (Wi-Fi) network.
Requirements
To connect your device to the university's wireless network, you will need your uniqname and current password. In addition, you will need to have a smartphone with wireless capability.
What is MFlint?
MFlint is a secure wireless network option available on the University of Michigan - Flint campus. Active faculty, staff, students, and alumni with a U-M uniqname and current password can connect to the MFlint network by connecting to the MSetup network first to configure their device. You cannot connect to MFlint directly before configuring your device. MFlint is a more secure certificate-based connection. Once this configuration has been completed on the device, it can connect for a year before this process has to be repeated to be renewed.
To configure an iOS device to use MFlint:
Go to go.umflint.edu/MFlint by navigating or using the QR code below
You will then see the following screen indicating that that you are configuring for an iOS device:
In then the following screen will appear to prompt you to put in your U of M uniqname and password
Click Sign After providing your uniqname and password then clicking Login you will be prompted to DUO
After seeing this open your DUO app if it doesn’t automatically. Then click Approve
Then go back to your browser and you should see the following screen with the option to JoinNow
After hitting JoinNow your device will download a configuration profile for iOS:
Click Allow then it should complete the profile download
Once this is done instructions will show on the next screen on how to apply this profile on your device:
After Installing the profile as shown the device will be able to connect to MFlint
To configure an Android device to use MFlint:
Go to go.umflint.edu/MFlint by navigating or using the QR code below
You will then see the following screen indicating that you are configuring an Android device:
Click on Download in Step 1. Then click Install at the following screen:
Then click Open when available on the same screen:
Now the following screen will appear for the app that has been downloaded:
Go back to your browser and click on JoinNow in Step 2 to configure the app:
This will bring up the login where you put in your U of M uniqname and password:
After putting in your credentials and hitting Login you will be prompted to DUO.
Open your DUO app and confirm the push by hitting Approve:
Your device will now start enrolling:
Now hit Next then Save on the next screens:
Your device will now to be able to connect automatically to MFlint.
