DART Query Tool - Add Cumulative Giving Filter to Revenue / Recognition Queries

What does it do?

This article will guide you through adding a dollar amount filter to revenue/recognition queries. The screen shots are for a recognition query, but the process would be the same for revenue queries.

Why is this done?

It is commonplace to pull a donor audience based on cumulative giving within a time frame. e.g. Donors who have given $500 or more in the last 5 fiscal years.

What Steps are Required

  1. Start by copying an existing revenue/recognition query.

  2. Copy the Recognition Amount to the results pane (Results fields to display) by clicking and dragging it down.
  3. In the results pane, click Recognition Amount so that it's highlighted.
  4. Click the formula icon and select SUM(Amount).

  6. Click the Set sort and group options tab.
  7. Drag the SUM(Recognition amount) to the Include records where pane.
  8. In the new dialog window, select your filter criteria (greater than, greater than or equal to, etc.).
  9. Enter the criteria amount, and click OK.

  12. Click the Set save options tab.
  13. Update the query name according to the query naming schema, update the description as needed.
  14. Click Save and close.
