Updating Existing BO Reports with Schedules
This article describes how to update BO reports without wiping out any existing schedules attached to them. There are also steps to verify and confirm that schedules were preserved after the report updates.
TIP: We always recommend making a copy of the existing report to make edits/updates to rather than on the original report!
Steps on how to Update:
- First, in the copy where you made your updates, purge all any selected values in any report prompts.
- If you added a new required prompt, you must set a default value (Ideally a value that won’t affect the results if not selected, ie. “DONT BOIL THE OCEAN), otherwise BO will wipe out existing schedules, as it won’t know how to handle the new prompt with the existing schedules that don’t have any value selected in this new required prompt.


2. When saving, select “Save As” instead of “Save”.

In the resulting window that pops up, navigate to the OLD version of the report that you wish to replace, and select it, then click “Save”. Don’t change the “File Name” or it’ll just save your changes as a new report.

A warning window will appear, click “OK”.

4. The old existing report should have been successfully updated with the changes you made, while preserving any schedules!
- OPTIONAL: To double check, go to the report’s History and open up a “Recurring” schedule as if you were re-scheduling it.


- Go to report features

- Although the prompts may appear to have retained their values, in some cases where the report updates weren’t saved properly, these prompts may actually be overwritten/wiped out! It’s important to go to the “Edit Prompt Values” to truly verify that they were preserved.

- Verified that the schedule has been preserved!
