I'm returned to the login screen after logging in to a linux machine on campus, what can I do?

From a Windows CAEN machine (physical or remote) could you please try this:

go to N: > dotfiles > .local (you may need to have turned on view hidden items in the view tab) > share 

rename the "xorg" folder to "xorg.bad"

then try logging back into linux
