Solid modeling and fluid simulation within STAR-CCM+ can be done in virtual reality. The steps below outline the workflow needed to visualize a fluid within VR. When all the steps have been completed, a STAR-CCM+ VR model will exist that allows the users to enter Virtual Reality, place "bubbles," and watch them flow with the fluid.
- Start STAR-CCM+ v13.04 or higher, and open your SIM file.
- Open the pre-created Scenes >> Scalar Scene 1 view.
- Create 2 Derived Parts (A and B).
- Resampled Volume
Voxel Count : Snap to Part (select the Product.Part from your model)
(You may want to expand the selection if you wish to see bubbles completely leave the area of interest)
- Streamlines
- Snap to Part : Velocity Inlet 1
- Part U-Resolution = 25, Part V-Resolution = 25
- Vector Field = Velocity
- Within the Scene
- Outline 1
- (Property) Opacity = 0.5
- (Property) Surface = True | Checked
- Hide unwanted Parts
- Parts >> Region >> (right-click) Hide
- Scalar 1
- Hide unwanted Parts (e.g. show Inlet and Floor)
- Parts >> Region >> (right-click) Hide
- Streamline Stream 1
- Scalar Field >> Function = Velocity: Magnitude
- Color Bar >> Visible = False | Unchecked
- Vector 1
- Parts = Resampled Volume
This is required to see the “particle bubbles” within VR.
- Vector Field >> Function = Velocity
- Color Bar >> Visible = False | Unchecked
- Right click Scalar Scene 1 >> Export 3D Visualization File.
- Start the application STAR-CCM+VR, and open your file newly exported file.
