How do I prioritize all the things that need to be done to make things accessible? Is there a roadmap?

As a matter of fact, there is. The University’s Digital Accessibility Roadmap can help you manage the process of making all kinds of digital content accessible. As far as prioritizing your work in Siteimprove, our platform is set up to show the “ADA Title II” dashboard by default.

Start with the issues identified by the ADA Title II dashboard. These are the issues relevant to the April 26, 2027 deadline. Fix these first.

  • If there are a lot, start with the ones that have a difficulty level of beginner
  • In this first push you may need to commit several hours a week to fixing issues.

Once you’ve corrected all of the Title II issues, work with your leadership to identify your next goal. We recommend:

  • Using the Accessibilty>Guidelines to review remaining A and AA guidelines that can’t be checked by an automated checker. These will include checking:
    • Video captions
    • Keyboard accessibility
    • Text can be resized to 200% without being clipped or requiring side to side scrolling
    • Manual accessibility checklist may be helpful
  • Using the Quality Assurance overview to identify and fix general site quality issues, most notably broken links and misspellings
  • Using the Accessibility overview to identify and fix more nuanced and/or technical accessibility issues and best practices
