Access My LINC on Mobile Devices

My LINC

Issue

I would like to access and complete My LINC courses via a mobile device.

Resolution

There is no approved mobile version of My LINC. When you are trying to access My LINC via a mobile device, you will be directed to download the SumTotal Mobile app, which is not used at U-M. It is best if My LINC is accessed using a computer. My LINC is not recommended on mobile devices. The ITS Service Center will not work with you to accomplish the workaround.

Desktop Mode for Mobile Devices

If a computer is not available, a workaround to attempt is using the Google Chrome browser app, however, note that the website and courseware will not be formatted correctly.

You can select to view the My LINC website in "desktop mode," which will allow you to access My LINC and the courseware as though you are on a computer;

1. Open Google Chrome on your mobile device.
2. Go to maislinc.umich.edu - you should see a page prompting you to access the content using a computer or tablet. Stay on this page, don't tap OK.
3. Select the 3 horizontal dots (...) for the Google Chrome browser (usually in the top or bottom-right corner).
4. Scroll through the options.
5. Select Request Desktop Site.
6. If you weren't already prompted to do so, you'll be prompted to do the Okta login.
7. Once logged in, you should see a WELCOME TO MY LINC page.

Using Safari on iPads

Note: The following steps have not been shown to work for Safari on iPhones. Please download Google Chrome on your iPhone and follow the steps above - you may need to open an incognito Chrome tab for the above steps to work on the iPhone.

1. Open Safari on your iPad.
2. Go to maislinc.umich.edu.
3. If you see a page prompting you to access the content using a computer or tablet, stay on that page, don't tap OK, and continue to step 4.
4. In the address bar, to the left of the URL, tap the symbol of a square with two staggered lines below it.
5. In the Highlights menu that opens, click the 3 horizontal dots (...) towards the bottom-right.
6. Select the Request Desktop Website option.
   • You may need to scroll through some options.
7. If you weren't already prompted to do so, you'll be prompted to do the Okta login.
8. Once logged in, you should see a WELCOME TO MY LINC page.
