ITS-Google at U-M
Issue
A calendar is missing or no longer visible in my Google Calendar.
Resolution
There are several ways a Google Calendar may become missing/no longer visible:
- You hid the calendar from your primary calendar view.
- You removed the calendar from your sidebar list.
- You unsubscribed (or removed yourself) from the calendar.
- You were removed from the calendar's sharing by the owner or another collaborator with sharing permissions.
Unhide/re-add a calendar
If you hid the calendar from your primary calendar view, locate it under "My calendars" or "Other calendars" in the left navigation sidebar of U-M Google Calendar, and check the box beside it to make it visible again.
If you removed the calendar from your sidebar list:
- Open U-M Google Calendar.
- Click the gear icon in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Scroll down the left navigation until you find the hidden calendar (under "Settings for my calendars" or "Settings for other calendars").
- Click the eye icon (Show in calendar list) beside it to restore it.
Resubscribe to a calendar
You will need the calendar link/ID to resubscribe manually:
- Open U-M Google Calendar.
- Click the plus (+) icon beside "Other calendars" in the left navigation sidebar and select From URL.
- Enter/paste the calendar link/ID into the field provided.
- Click Add calendar.
If you receive an error after clicking Add calendar, you may no longer be shared on or have permission to view the calendar to which you are trying to resubscribe.
If you don't have the calendar link/ID that was originally shared with you, you can ask the calendar owner or someone with the "Make changes and manage sharing" permission to share the calendar with you again.
If none of the above works to restore your missing calendar, you were likely removed by the calendar owner or someone with sharing permissions, the calendar was deleted by the owner, or the calendar was deleted along with the owner's account when they left U-M. You should reach out to the individual you know who owns/manages the calendar to ask for more information and whether you can be shared on it again.
