Panorama Alt Text Tool Guidance

Summary

Users want to use the alt text tool in Panorama.

Body

Environment

Panorama in Canvas.

Issue

You would like to understand how to use the Panorama Alt Text tool in the Files section.

Resolution

In the files section of Canvas, users can add alt text to images by clicking the ALT icon that appears next to any image file. This gives users the option to add alt text to all instances of an image in the course site.

There are currently some limitations to this tool.

  • Alt text is currently not saved unless the image is placed somewhere in the course. Make sure that the image is placed on at least one page, assignment, quiz, etc. before adding alt text using this tool.
  • Currently the tool does not give obvious user feedback that the alt text has been saved. You can verify that it has been correctly applied by going to an instance of where the image appears in the course and selecting Image Options to view the alt text.
  • The "Learn More" link in the information callout box in the tool is broken.

YuJa Panorama has been made aware of these limitations and issues and are working to fix them.
