Issue
What is Zoom Hub? Do we have access to Zoom Hub in U-M Zoom?
Resolution
- Zoom Hub is a file-sharing tool within the Zoom desktop app and on the web (zoom.umich.edu) that provides quick access to all your Zoom content, including meeting recordings and AI Companion meeting summaries. It serves as a location for finding, managing, and sharing these Zoom assets with others at U-M.
- You can access Zoom Hub from the “Hub” tab in the left navigation bar of the desktop app or after logging into your account at zoom.umich.edu.
- Although the Hub feature is available to all accounts, the U-M Zoom team recommends using the familiar, feature-rich Zoom web portal to access your meeting recordings and summaries, as it remains the most robust method for asset management.
Refer to Zoom Support for information on getting started with Zoom Hub. (Note that there are several services Zoom advertises within their Hub documentation that are unavailable to U-M Zoom accounts, such as Docs and Clips.)
Additional Information
The feature is available only in the desktop app for versions 6.5.5 and newer.
Important: When an asset's owner leaves the university, and their Zoom account is deactivated, co-owners will still be able to view the content until the owner's account is deleted (90 days after affiliation change). If an owner has left, and you're a co-owner who still needs access to the asset:
- If it's a cloud recording, download it by clicking the three-dot icon beside it and selecting Download from the drop-down menu.
- If it's a meeting summary, you cannot download it directly from Zoom or the Hub. Click the three-dot icon next to it, select Open in new tab, copy the summary text, and paste it into a document outside Zoom (Google Doc, Word file, etc.).
