Summary
Instructions for installing the 2026 versions of the licensed assistive technology programs JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion.
Body
Environment
Windows 11, JAWS, ZoomText, Fusion
Issue
Starting with the 2026 updates, the Vispero products JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion (a combination of JAWS and ZoomText) are licensed using an online account tied to each individual user rather than a license file.
Resolution
Install
- Uninstall any previous version of your Vispero product(s). Screen reader users may wish to first download NVDA as an alternative screen reader while you are completing the upgrade to JAWS 2026.
- Go to https://www.freedomscientific.com/.
- From the Software menu, choose Sponsored Software Licenses.
- You will go to a page that asks you to verify your email.
- Type in your U-M email address and choose “Search.”
- On the next page, choose the “Continue to registration” button.
- You will be asked to provide several pieces of information, not all of which are required.
- Note: Do NOT use your U-M password for the password. This should be a separate password for Freedom Scientific.
- After you have filled this out, choose the “Register” button.
- On the next screen, you will be asked to check your email.
- When you receive a confirmation message, choose the provided link.
- You will then go to a sign in screen.
- Enter your U-M email and the password you provided, and choose Sign In.
- After sign in, you will go to a screen that prompts you to download the product you want (JAWS, ZoomText, or Fusion).
- When the .exe file is downloaded, choose it and follow the installation prompts, including restarting your computer.
- The first time you run the product, you will be prompted to sign in. That should only happen once.
