Issue

  • How do I request a Zoom webinar license?
  • How do I increase my webinar attendee limit from 1k to 10k?

Resolution

  • Ensure you have reviewed the Zoom: Additional Licenses Available at U-M article to understand the differences between webinar licenses. Webinar 1k licenses are automatically approved and require annual renewal using the tool, while 10k licenses are granted for one-week increments.
  • To request a Zoom Webinar 1k license:
    1. Go to the ITS Zoom License Manager tool.
    2. Click Webinar 1,000 under "Request a new add-on license."
    3. Thoroughly review the information provided at the top of the form.
    4. Check the two confirmation boxes to verify that you have reviewed all relevant information and understand the license's renewal option.
    5. Click Submit request.
    6. After your request is submitted, it will be automatically approved and applied to your account.
      • If you'd like to remove the license at any time, click Renew/Remove next to it in the tool, click Remove, and follow the instructions to confirm removal.
      • Renewal opens 30 days before the license expiry date. Click Renew/Remove next to it in the tool and click Renew.
  • To request a Zoom Webinar 10k license:
    1. Go to the ITS Zoom License Manager tool.
    2. Ensure you have a Webinar 1k license applied to your account. If not, refer to the instructions above to request one, as it is required to request a 10k license.
    3. Click Webinar 10,000 under "Request a new add-on license."
      • Note: This option will be greyed out if no licenses are available OR you do not have a Webinar 1k license applied to your account, and a message will appear stating this.
    4. Thoroughly review the information provided at the top of the form.
    5. Enter the event date in the field provided.
    6. Check the two confirmation boxes to verify that you have reviewed all relevant information and understand the license's one-week term limit.
    7. Click Submit request.
    8. After your request is submitted and reviewed by the U-M Zoom team, you will receive an ITS Service Center ticket confirming it has been applied to your account.
      • If an extension or reschedule is needed, submit a new request using the ITS Zoom License Manager tool.
      • If you'd like to remove the license before its deadline, click Remove next to it in the tool.

Additional Information

If you leave the university and return with an eligible affiliation, you will need to request a webinar license again.
