Microsoft AI and Copilot Availability at U-M

This article provides information regarding Microsoft AI and Copilot's availability at U-M (within the ITS-managed Microsoft 365 instance).

Environment

Microsoft AI Copilot and U-M Microsoft 365 accounts (ITS-managed instance)

Issue

• Microsoft Copilot is a new artificial intelligence service created by Microsoft. Can I use it with my U-M Microsoft 365 account (ITS-managed)?
• Can I use other Microsoft AI features with my U-M Microsoft 365 account?

Resolution

U-M Microsoft 365 accounts (in the ITS-managed instance) currently do not have access to Copilot. ITS will be sure to communicate if this changes.

If you would like to explore Copilot, please use a personal, non-university Microsoft account and only use it with institutional data classified as LOW. Refer to Artificial Intelligence and U-M Institutional Data for more information.

Additionally, other Microsoft AI features are not available in the U-M Microsoft 365 (ITS-managed) instance.
