Google Pay and Wallet Availability at U-M

This article provides information regarding the availability of Google Wallet and Google Pay within U-M Google.

U-M Google, Google Wallet, and Google Pay

Issue

  • Google apps/services/products/features that deal with monetary transactions return an error message, such as "Paid subscriptions are disabled" or "We are sorry, but you do not have access to Google Pay." 
  • Additionally, individuals with Google Chromebooks cannot use the Google Play Store and cannot install applications.

Resolution

Google apps/services/products/features that handle monetary transactions have not been enabled (under a University executive leadership policy) for the U-M Google domain.

The list of affected apps/services/products/features includes, but is not limited to:

  • Google Pay
  • Google Wallet
  • Google Play Store
  • YouTube Premium
  • NFL Sunday Ticket
  • Google Fi
  • Google Chromebook
  • Google Ads
  • All other Google applications dealing with monetary transactions

Use a non-UMICH Google account for monetary transactions in Google.
