Issue

How do I sign in with an Okta hardware token?

Resolution

Starting February 25, 2026 you will see the new Okta Sign-in page (replaces U-M Weblogin).

If you’ve already purchased an Okta hardware token from the ITS Tech Shop, follow these steps to complete Okta Sign In.

  1. On the Okta Sign-In page, enter your uniqname or email address and click Next.
  2. Enter your UMICH password and click Verify.
  3. If prompted, select the hardware token option. If you don’t see the hardware token option, click Verify with something else.
  4. Enter the passcode in the field provided and click Verify.

Additional Information

  • If you have not yet purchased an Okta hardware token, visit the ITS Tech Shop in person.
  • Duo hardware tokens can't be used in Okta.
  • The University will cover the cost of an initial Okta hardware token for each user (faculty including emeriti, staff, students, retirees, alumni, and sponsored affiliates).
