Why am I "not authorized" for In-State Tuition Application from Registrar's Office Website?

Issue

You have applied for admission and see an error that you are "not authorized" when clicking on the link to the In-State Tuition Application from the Registrar's Office website, http://ro.umich.edu/resreg.php

Resolution

Note:  If you have not yet submitted your application of admission, you will not be able to access the In-State Tuition/Residency Application.

Follow these steps to access the application:

  1. Navigate to Wolverine Access at wolverineaccess.umich.edu
  2. Click on the New and Prospective Student Business link
  3. Sign in with your U-M uniqname (if applicable) or Friend Account
    1. More information about setting up a Friend Account: Set up a Friend Account 
  4. Verify your UMID number and birth date
  5. Log out of Wolverine Access
  6. Log in to New and Prospective Student Business once again, which should enable access to the in-state application

Additional Information

This error occurs if you have never logged into New and Prospective Student Business to verify your UMID and birthday.
