My LINC PEERRS Access Request Form for Users Without a Uniqname

Issue

You need access to PEERRS training for MyLINC, but do not have a uniqname.

Resolution

Friend Accounts

You will need access to an email address that does not end in “umich.edu” to set up a Friend account and sign up for the PEERRS Human Subjects Research Protections training.

  1. Navigate to the Request a Friend Account webpage: https://friend.weblogin.umich.edu/friend/.
  2. In the Your Email Address box, enter your email address (this will be your login ID), and then click Request.
  3. Confirmation will show that your Friend account request has been submitted and a message has been sent to the email address you provided with further instructions.
  4. The U-M Friend Account Request email message sent to you contains a link.
    1. Click the Create Friend Account link in the message to go to a webpage where you continue to create your Friend account.
  5. In the Your Email Address box, type your full email address.
    1. Select a password and, in the Password box, type the selected password.
    2. In the Re-enter password box, retype the password to confirm your selection.
    3. Click Set Password.
  6. A confirmation screen lets you know that your Friend account has been created
  7. An email message confirms the creation of your Friend account and provides you with information about it. You may save this message for reference. 

PEERRS Human Subjects Research Protections

  1. Once you have a Friend account, you can request a PEERRS account by filling out the form below:
    1. Request Access for PEERRS Certifications
      1. Use the Friend account you chose above.
    2. After you request your PEERRS account, watch for a confirmation that your account is in place in My LINC.  Then you can access the course to complete the requirement.
  2. Navigate to the PEERRS webpage: https://research-compliance.umich.edu/peerrs-portal/.
  3. Click the link for the course link that is relevant to your study.
  4. On the new page, choose Register and Register again on the page it lands you on.
  5. Complete the course.

If you forget your Friend password or wish to change it, navigate to: https://friend.weblogin.umich.edu/friend/account/ and follow the instructions.
