Computer with Okta Verify App/FastPass setup
Issue
Not presented with preferred Okta authentication option.
Resolution
To use a different authentication option instead of FastPass or Okta Verify desktop app, follow these steps:
- Fully quit the Okta Verify desktop application on the device.
- Windows: Click the up arrow in the System Tray at the bottom-right of the taskbar, right-click the "Okta Verify" app, and select "Quit".
- MacOS: Click the Okta Verify icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen, right-click it, and select "Quit". If the Okta Verify icon is not visible, close other menu bar applications to reveal it.
- After quitting the app, attempt to authenticate again. You should then be presented with other enrolled MFA options.
- If prompted to open the Okta Verify desktop app during authentication, choose not to open it to access other authentication methods.
Removing Okta Verify from the device is not required; simply quitting the app allows access to other MFA options.
