Issue
I cannot remember my U-M password and one or more of my computers automatically log me into my U-M account. How can I determine what my current U-M password is without needing to reset it?
Resolution
If your web browser is automatically signing you in to your U-M account or auto-filling your password, then your U-M password has been saved within your web browser and you can view this saved password in plain text when needed.
Please refer to the instructions below for your specific web browser & device to find your saved U-M password
Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the browser window.
- Hover over "Passwords and autofill" and select "Google Password Manager"
- You will see a list of websites. The saved U-M password should be stored under a "umich.edu" website.
- Find and select your U-M account from the list.
- You will be prompted to enter your computer’s login credentials to proceed. (e.g., User password, Windows Hello, TouchID, or FaceID).
