Examples of effective text messages used in recruitment

1.    Do you want to join a study that may help you lower your blood pressure? [study name] and the [partner health network] are offering a BP cuff, phone app, and Fitbit to help you get active and stay active. Reply Y if interested or N to stop texts


2.    Do you have high blood pressure? Join a study called [study name] with the [partner health network] and you will receive a BP cuff, Fitbit, and access to phone app that may help you lower your blood pressure! Reply Y if interested or N to stop texts


3.    Hello [name]! Want to lower your blood pressure? Join a study called the [study name] in partnership with the [partner health network] and you will receive a BP cuff, Fitbit watch, and access to a mobile app. Reply Y if interested or N to stop texts


4.    Hello [name]! Do you have high blood pressure & want to join the [study name] Study with the [partner health network] using a BP cuff, phone app, and Fitbit watch provided by the study? Reply Y if interested or N to stop texts


5.    Do you have high blood pressure and are looking for ways to get physically active? The [study name] study with [partner health network] is offering a BP cuff, phone app, & Fitbit watch to study how to help you be active. Reply Y if interested or N to stop texts

 

The bank of five messages was used to prevent being marked as spam. The system would pick one message at random. Including the potential participant names improved the odds of the message being delivered instead of being marked as spam.
