Academic Calendar

What are the key dates of each term at U-M?

The academic calendar on the Office of the Registrar's website shows key dates of each term, including the beginning and ending of classes as well as breaks.

U-M is on a semester system with two full-terms during the academic year (fall and winter) and two half-terms during the spring and summer months (spring and summer).

  • Fall term typically begins the week before Labor Day with examinations ending in late December.
  • Winter term typically begins in early January with examinations ending in late April.
  • Spring term typically begins in early May with examinations ending in late June.
  • Summer term typically begins in late June and ends in mid-August.

There is a quick link to the academic calendar on the top right side of the University of Michigan home page.
