Bachelor of Science in Urban Technology students graduate with an understanding of cities and the design and technology skills to research city life and respond to urban needs. This degree is a good balance for people who are both analytical and creative. Students who want to learn to use technology to design solutions that impact daily life and the vitality and vibrancy of urban spaces are strong candidates for this program. Centered around project-based, collaborative work and with classes ranging from Data-Oriented Programming to the Anatomy of the City, you will learn the myriad structures and operations that determine how cities function; work with big data and coding; and develop your abilities to deploy design methodologies to solve challenges and create cities that are sustainable, equitable, and joyful.

To apply to the B.S. in Urban Technology program, first-year applicants are required to submit the Common Application. No portfolio is required.
Current U-M undergraduates are required to complete a minimum of 40 credit hours during their first two years on campus, including all of the prerequisite coursework outlined on the Apply to the B.S. in Urban Technology (Cross-campus Transfers) webpage, before completing the Cross-campus Transfer Application.
This program is not currently available to transfer students outside of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
