Google Meet is a video conferencing service. Google Meet allows U-M students, faculty, and staff to connect and collaborate with live video, audio, and screen sharing. With Meet, you can work from home or abroad and join meetings and conference calls from any computer or mobile device.
Intended Audience
This article is intended for current students, faculty staff, alumni, and anyone who would like to know more about using Google Meet for video conferencing.
Requirements
For the best experience, you will need a computing device, an Internet connection, and a microphone. Google Meet allows a webcam but is not required. Access to Google Meet is included with every individual's U-M Google Account.
Meet Features
Google Meet can be used to participate in group video chat during online class sessions and share your screen. Below are a few of the features and functionality Google Meet offers:
- Google Meet
- HD Video and Audio
- Built-In Presentation Features
- Up to 100 participants per video call
- Scheduling with Google Calendar
Depending on the Google Workspace you might have, you could have access to some advanced features such as
- 500 Participants per meeting
- Meeting recordings
- In-domain live streaming
