Intended Audience
This article is intended for current Faculty and Staff members want to have their computers joined to the newest VPN.
Requirements
To follow this article you will need to have a domain-joined Windows computer, running Windows operating system 8.1 or higher; that is also a Windows enterprise-level operating system. If your version of Windows is the Home or Professional versions then the Direct Access VPN will be unable to function properly. Windows Firewall must be enabled as well as ipv6 and the 6 to 4 protocol. This cannot be installed on a personal computer. This is a VPN replacement that will always be on. This requires no client to be installed and it auto-detects whether you are on campus or off-site connecting to the Internet. Only traffic that is going to umflint.edu will go through the VPN. In other words, it will only filter traffic going to umflint.edu or any university-related website. It will also automatically connect network drives and printers.
