Switch Primary from Invalid Phone to Valid Home or Cell

This integrity check identifies phone records on constituents that have both (1) a phone number that is marked as primary but is invalid (i.e., has a Do Not Call flag), and (2) a valid home or cell phone number so that the valid phone number can be made into the primary and the old primary phone can be end-dated and marked as Do Not Call.

The OUD-DS3 best practice is for a valid phone number to be flagged as primary when a constituent has a valid phone number. This number should be a home or cell phone. This will allow more constituents to be contacted via phone.

The integrity check queries active individuals who have a primary phone number which is marked as Do Not Call and at least one other phone with a type of Home or Cell Phone which is not marked as Do Not Call (i.e., is a valid phone number). If the constituent has multiple valid non-primary phones, the following sort order determines which one will be made primary:

  1. Information Source: Self-Reported > Web-Self Reported > Bio Acquisition Project uAG > Gift > Conveyed through UM Rep. > Constituent > (all others)

  2. Phone Type: Cell Phone > Home

  3. Phone added date – ascending

  4. Phone start date – ascending, where nulls are replaced with 2100-01-01

  5. Phone ID – tiebreaker

The output of this integrity check is two batches. In the first batch, the best valid phone is updated to primary. In the second batch, the old primary is given an end date.
