Some of the default behavior of the workspace switcher within GNOME has been changed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. As a result, switching windows within the Linux CLSE may function a little differently. More information on these changes is available in the Red Hat 8.1 Release Notes.
In addition to the changes to the “Classic” session, the “Standard” GNOME session defaults to dynamic workspaces. A dynamic workspace is oriented vertically rather than horizontally, and must have at least one open window before another workspace can be created. Some helpful keyboard shortcuts include:
- To get an overview of all windows and workspaces: Windows key
- To create a new workspace: Windows key + Page Down
- To switch between workspaces: Ctrl + Alt + Up/Down arrow keys
