How can I download recordings from the Lecture Recording System?

Body

Note: Only the owner (or anyone who has manager permissions) will be able to complete this task. If the Lecture Recording team is asked to copy a recording from a site that you do not have access to, approval will need to be requested from the owner of the recording.

For Students and Viewers
Please get in touch with the instructor for your course if you need access to any recordings that have been made as we cannot override their decisions without their consent.

For Site Owners and Managers
To download a recording, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Lecture Recording My Sites page (https://leccap.engin.umich.edu/leccap/manage/site).
  2. Select the Manage Recordings option for any Lecture Recording site. Access to this and any other page in a Lecture Recording site is DUO-Authenticated; only existing site owners and managers will be able to proceed.
  3. Click the Edit option attached to any published Lecture Recording.
  4. On the Edit Recording page, locate the Viewing Formats module on the right side of the screen.
  5. Open the drop-down menu under Web-based viewers, then select either Download or Send to Google Drive.
    1. If selecting Download, the browser will automatically begin downloading an .mp4 file of the Lecture Recording.
    2. If sending to Google Drive, this will create a new folder in your University of Michigan Google Drive labeled CAEN Lecture Recording Sites and place the recording there.

Note: If you do not see the Download or Send to Google Drive options and instead see an option to Don't wait, create now, choose that to have the system create the necessary format. After some processing time, you can return to this menu and the download options should appear.
