How do I change the camera angle for Lecture Recordings?

Summary

A step-by-step overview of how to change the camera angle for Lecture Recording from the user's Lecture Recording My Sites page.

Body

The camera will automatically readjust to a preset angle at the beginning of each scheduled Lecture Recording. Most venues have a predefined starting position for the camera, but this can be changed for each Lecture Recording site by site owners or managers.

To change the starting camera angle for Lecture Recordings in this site...

  1. Go to the Lecture Recording My Sites page (https://leccap.engin.umich.edu/leccap/manage/site). If you have not been DUO-authenticated yet, you may need to go through this process in order to access anything in the Lecture Recording service.

  2. Select the Create A Recording option associated with any course.

  3. On the next page, click the blue Connect to the capture system. If multiple venues are available for this site, a specific room will need to be selected from the drop-down menu.

  4. Use the arrows to move the camera, to zoom in, and - to zoom out.

  5. Click Set Preset.

  6. Click Default

If another class or event is recording, the camera controls will be unavailable and will need to try again later.

The camera preview image has a much lower frame rate than what is actually being recorded, and may appear choppy. The finished Lecture Recording will be more in line with what your viewers will expect.

If you want to change the angle while recording is already happening, you or another member of your instructional team can use the some steps as long as you are going through the same Lecture Recording site. Most spaces have a method to change the angle from the podium, though it varies slightly depending on which area provides room support. There is a small amount of lag time between making any change from your computer and the camera responding.
