How to Use MConnect

MConnect is U-M’s program to help units locate diverse, sustainable, and small business suppliers from which to purchase goods and services. You can search for prospective suppliers on the internal portal and filter by your desired criteria.

Description

In February 2023, MConnect was enhanced and relaunched on the Procurement Services website. The portal can now accommodate an increased number of diverse and sustainable supplier classifications and offers a new, easy-to-use design with enhanced functionality.  New suppliers are registering frequently, so check the portal often for the most updated list.

*Please note that goods and services can be purchased from any supplier in the MConnect database, but U-M purchasing requirements  (URL:  procurement.umich.edu/u-m-employees/purchasing/) must be followed (e.g., any transaction of $10,000 or more must be competitively bid and managed by Procurement Services to ensure that prices are fair and reasonable).

To use MConnect, please follow the instructions below:

1. Access MConnect (URL:  procurement.umich.edu/u-m-mconnect-search/) on the Procurement Services Website. 

2. Login with your uniqname, password and verify with Duo.

   • You may be prompted to login before you can access the portal

3. Use the Supplier Information Search filters to find prospective suppliers.

   • Search by Company Name or a Partial Company Name

   • Search by Business Size: Small or Large

     • You can select both or leave leave the field blank

   • Search by Business Classification: check each box you 

     • You can select as many classifications as desired

   • Search by NAICS code

     • For the list of NAICS codes, visit the NAICS website (URL:  www.naics.com/search/). 

   • Search by NAICS Keyword

     • Enter the commodity keyword your are searching for

4. Click “Search” at the bottom of the page. 

5. You will see all the suppliers in MConnect that match your search criteria in the table at the bottom of the page.

6. Click “Export Search Result” to download your search results in an Excel spreadsheet.

Diverse, sustainable, and small business suppliers that would like to do business with U-M are encouraged to sign up with MConnect  (URL:  procurement.umich.edu/mconnect/) on the Procurement Services Website.
