Student Typhon Reports Submission Guide

Summary

This guide is a step by step process for generating all four reports containing information about your clinical hours. Use this guide to submit these reports as part of an assignment in your last clinical course.

Body

Introduction

As a graduating Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwife student, you may be asked to provide proof of your clinical hours, whether for a job application or for certification. This could occur several years after graduation. This data will be very useful in your professional portfolio. For this assignment, you are required to create Typhon reports documenting your clinical experience and submit them. You will need to save these reports on your personal computer or cloud storage, so it is important that you save them safely and where you can easily retrieve them.
In this three part assignment, you will create and save Typhon reports to your computer, complete the Student Typhon Reports Submission Google form, and then submit your response email from the Google Form as proof that you have completed it.

Part 1: Instructions to generate Typhon reports

In Part 1 you will generate four unique Typhon reports related to your clinical courses and save them on your personal computer or a cloud storage location (i.e., Google Drive or Dropbox).

Logging in to Typhon:

  1. Log in to Typhon. Go to the Typhon web site at http://typhongroup.net, click Login under NPST and select Student Data Entry
  2. Enter the UMSN Account Number (3123), your User Login and Password. Click Log In.

Now you can generate the four required reports. Instructions for each report are below:

Case Log Totals (Graphical) Report:

  1. Click on Case Log Totals (Graphical) under "Case Log Reports"
  2. By default, all Case Logs are included in the report. To ensure this is the case, check that it says “Case Log Totals: All Dates” below the filter options. You won’t need to apply any additional filters. Click on "Export to PDF" to save the file to your computer.
  3. Save the file with the naming convention: UNIQNAME_GRADYEAR_Case-Log-Totals-Graphical
    1. Ex: uniqname_2023_Case-Log-Totals-Graphical.xlsx

Case Log Totals (Bulk Export):

  1. Click on Case Log Details (Bulk Export) to get a bulk export of your case log details. You will need to export and upload multiple files to ensure you capture all of your case log data.
  2. Your first and last case log dates will automatically be filled in the date range field.
    1. NOTE: Each export can only contain 100 case logs. You will need to run this report multiple times to export all your case logs. To export the next 100 cases, open the first exported file, scroll to the last page, then enter the date of the last included case in the “From:” date range field. You won’t need to change the “To:” date.
    2. The "Date of Encounter" is in the top right of each case log.
  3. Choose "Export to PDF". A PDF file of all your case logs will download shortly. If you have more than 100 case logs, scroll to the bottom of this file, find the date of the last log listed, and run the export again with that date in the From: field.
    1. You can see your total number of case files in the Case Log Totals (Graphical) report
    2. NOTE: If your report has less than 100 case logs, you do not need to run any more exports.
  4. Save the file with the naming convention: UNIQNAME_GRADYEAR_Case-Log-Details-Bulk-Export_01
    1. Ex: uniqname_2023_Case-Log-Totals-Bulk-Export_01.pdf
    2. NOTE: Increment the number at the end of the filename for each export you make.

My Time Logs

  2. Check the “Display patient, consult & conference time” box.
  3. By default, all Time Logs are included in the report. To ensure this is the case, ensure it says “Time Logs: All Dates” below the filter options. You won’t need to apply any additional filters. Click on "Export to Excel" to save the file to your computer.
