Passwords
- Level 1 - The Central campus password
- Used for Wolverine Access, Canvas, Umich Gmail
- Can be changed at password.it.umich.edu
- Over the phone support is through 4help
- Level 2 - The Medical Campus password
- Used for hospital systems, including Outlook
- Can be changed at lvl2.med.umich.edu
- Over the phone support is through Michigan Medicine - IT
How Email Works
At the University there are two email accounts:
- Outlook (default account)
- Gmail
- Email address is 'uniqname@umich.edu'
- Uses your level 1 password
- Supported by 4help
- Can be accessed from email.umich.edu
- Used primarily by Central Campus
Our School uses Outlook as the default account.
All mail is forwarded to your Outlook email. So if I were to send you an email to youruniqname@umich.edu, a copy goes to your Gmail account and a copy goes to your Outlook. If I were to send you an email at youruniqname@med.umich.edu, a copy only goes to your Outlook account. So Outlook will receive emails that are sent to both accounts.
Your mail does not sync, nor can be forwarded automatically between accounts.
There are three different IT departments you may have to interact with:
- UMSN-IT
- We are the School of Nursing's IT department
- If you have any IT questions you can reach out to us first
- 4help
- Central Campuses IT department, located by the Stadium
- Supports Level 1 Password resets
- Can assist with DUO (if you forgot your phone and need a temp code)
