Body

Summary

Mac updates occasionally result in a "Bluetooth Not Available" message and the inability to use Bluetooth-connected keyboards and other devices. This article describes how to fix this problem.

Environment

macOS

Directions

  1. Open the Finder and navigate to /Library/Preferences. (This should be the root /Library/Preferences, not /Users/username/Library/Preferences.)
  2. In the Preferences folder, delete the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file.
  3. Shut down the computer by choosing Shut Down from the Apple menu. Choosing Restart is not sufficient.
  4. Wait a few seconds, then power the computer back on.
