Summary
Install and configure the Department of Sociology's main copier on a Windows or Mac computer.
Environment
Mac or Windows.
Procedure
Windows
For Windows users:
- Install the printer via hostname, NOT MPrint (soccoprint.soc.lsa.umich.edu, Xerox WorkCentre 5755).
- Go to Printer Properties.
- Click Configuration tab.
- Click Accounting.
- In the Accounting System pulldown menu choose Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron.
- In the Accounting Prompt pulldown choose Do Not Prompt.
- Default User ID is the user's copy code (found in this Google Sheet) (or 33001 for staff).
- Default Account Type is General Account for staff and Group Account for everyone else.
- Default Account ID is the Group account ID (found in this Google Sheet) (such as 1234 for faculty and 03115 for staff).
Mac
For macOS users:
- In System Preferences, install the printer via hostname, NOT MPrint (soccoprint.soc.lsa.umich.edu, Xerox WorkCentre 5755).
- Open something to print and choose the print option (if in Chrome, use the Print using system dialog option).
- In the pulldown menu that defaults to Layout, click on Xerox Features.
- In the pulldown menu that defaults to Paper/Output, click on Advanced.
- Click the Accounting button at the bottom.
- In the Accounting System pulldown menu choose Xerox Standard Accounting or Auditron.
- In the Accounting Prompt pulldown choose Do Not Prompt.
- Default User ID is the user's copy code (found in this Google Sheet) (or 33001 for staff).
- Default Account Type is General Account for staff and Group Account for everyone else.
- Default Account ID is the Group account ID (found in this Google Sheet) (such as 1234 for faculty).
- In the Presets pulldown, click Save Current Settings as Preset....
- Give the preset a name (like "Copy code"), make it available for Only this printer and click OK.
- Click OK, then Print to print a test page to check functionality.
