Summary
On macOS, any user-downloaded fonts must be installed to the macOS system application Font Book.
Environment
macOS
Directions
- Launch the Font Book application located in your Applications folder.
- With Font Book open click the Add + button in the Font Book toolbar.
- Locate and select the font, then click Open.
- Font Book will both install and validate the font upon import and give a list of any fonts that fail validation.
Additional Notes
To install a font, you can also drag the font file to the Font Book app icon, or you double-click the font file in the Finder. A dialog will appear for you to confirm installation of the font.
When you install a font, it is automatically validated and checked for errors. If you are having issues with fonts not displaying correctly or being unable to open a document because of a corrupt font, you can also validate fonts after installation.
Note
Installing too many fonts can slow some applications down, and cause system-wide stability issues. If you're planning on installing a large number of fonts, using a third-party font management client is recommended.
This fix has resolved multiple issues where Adobe Creative Cloud applications force quit/crash on start up.
