Accessing Xerox printer features (Mac)

Summary

This document details how to access the Xerox features to change the default printer options in Mac OS. The features available to the end user are dependent on the model of Xerox printer and any finisher it has installed. If you would like to change your printing options, you will need to access the Xerox printing features within the print dialogue window. The printer model used as an example here is a Xerox Altalink C8055 with a finisher that has the stapling feature. There are other finishers available in the Xerox multifunction printers that provide features like hole punch and booklet printing as well.

Directions

1.	Go to File → Print for your document, and when the print window comes up, you may need to expand the window by clicking the Show Details button at the bottom. (If the Window is already expanded and the button now reads Hide Details, move on to Step 2 below.)
2.	Now, use the dropdown next to the Printer: field to select the name of the printer you would like to print to, if it is not already selected by default.
3.	To access the options specific to the Xerox printer, click the dropdown field under Orientation: (which in this example has Preview listed by default), and select Printer Features, or it may be listed as Printer Options or Xerox Features depending on the version of your Xerox driver.
4.	This will show you the default options selected for the Xerox printer. From here if you scroll down through the list, you can change the 2-Sided Printing options, Finishing options (like stapling), and color options.
5.	To select stapling, in the dropdown next to Finishing: you can 1 Staple or 2 Staple as the option.
6.	To select color options, in the dropdown next to Xerox Black and White: change the dropdown value to Off (Use Document Color) for color printing, or if you want Black and White, make sure the dropdown is set to On.
7.	Then when you have all the options selected that you need, click the Print button in the bottom right of the window to send your job to the printer.

Adobe Acrobat/Reader

Adobe products have an extra few print dialogue windows that you will need to navigate through to reach the Xerox print options. Below are screenshots and directions on how to reach the Xerox features selections. Adobe Reader is the example program used here.

1.	Go to File → Print for your document, and the Adobe program print window will open. Click the Printer… button in the bottom left of the window.
2.	In this case, an Acrobat Reader dialogue will open, informing you that "The Print Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system…" Click the Yes button to continue to the system print window.
3.	You may need to expand the window that opens by clicking the Show Details button at the bottom. (If the Window is already expanded and the button now reads Hide Details, move on to Step 4 below.)
4.	This will take you to the system print details window, which is similar to the previous steps above, but does not have a thumbnail preview in the window.
5.	From this window, click the dropdown field below Pages, which is usually defaulted to Layout, and select Printer Features, or it may be listed as Printer Options or Xerox Features, depending on the version of your driver.
6.	With the expanded Xerox Features now showing, you can select your finishing options like stapling and other black and white or color options, just as explained in the section above in Step 5 through Step 7. When you have made your feature selections, click the Print button in the bottom right to send your job to the printer.
