Closed captions on LG & OPPO Blu-ray players

This article shows how to enable the closed caption track on LG and Oppo Blu-ray players installed in most classrooms. 

Instructions for LG Blu-ray decks

Press the "Caption" button on the remote

Instructions for Oppo Blu-ray decks

Press the "Setup" button on the remote to open the Setup Menu.

In the menu, select the top choice, "Playback setup" and then select "Closed Caption"

Toggle "CC Display" to "On"

Press the "Setup" button to exit the Setup Menu.

Closed captions should now appear onscreen.

Note that there is a "Subtitle" button on the Oppo remotes. This button is used for displaying the more common "subtitle" track but will not work to turn on legacy "closed captions." When one tries to use this button with discs that have closed captions but not subtitles, a red circle-with-slash will appear, indicating that there are no subtitle tracks present on the disc.

*Disclaimer*

The Oppo BDP-103 models do not support or decode closed caption (CC) tracks.

Only the Oppo UDP-203 models have this capability. Be sure to check which model you are using.
