While this issue may occur within the LSA Graduate Admission/Application Manager application, the issue resides with the Document Imaging Team.
Issue
When clicking “Open Application” on an applicant’s overview in the Graduate Admissions system, the PDF does not open. The screen may flash or look like the page is trying to load. This is an issue with the file that ITS needs to fix.
Note: Please see Environment section for information regarding the correct naming of the application(s).
Environment
Sometimes the Graduate Admissions system is incorrectly called “Application Manager” by the user. These are two different systems that look very similar. The way to confirm the system is by the URL:
- Application Manager: https://webapps.lsa.umich.edu/Apply/
- Graduate Admissions: https://webapps.lsa.umich.edu/AppMgr/*
*The AppMgr URL is for Graduate Admissions.
Resolution
User should email ITS (4help@umich.edu) and mention that the graduate’s transcript cannot be opened. This should be directed to the Document Imaging Team who will need to recapture the transcript. Sometimes the ITS Document Imaging Team will not find any issue with the files, but recapturing will fix the issue. If urgent, the student's files can be downloaded from ApplyWeb.
Suggested text for responding to user:
Hello,
This is an issue with the file itself and something that needs to be fixed by ITS who manages these files. Could you please email 4help@umich.edu along with some text along the following lines? If the file cannot be opened in Wolverine Access, I would include that as well. It's best to not mention LSA in the email as ITS will then bounce the ticket over to us and we cannot fix on our end.
"The transcript for applicant [name] [emplid] is unable to be opened. Could the document imaging team please recapture the files?”
