How to find Monterey in Managed Software Center

Looking to upgrade to MacOS Monterey but cannot find it in Managed Software Center? Please see the below documentation for steps to resolve this issue.


Updates to MacOS Operating Systems should be done through Managed Software Center. Due to changes in University Policy regarding the installation of Monterey, the install option is not under the Update tab as it has been in the past.


MacOS Monterey should be located as an upgrade available within Managed Software Center so long as certain qualifications have been met. If Monterey is not easily located within Managed Software Center, please follow these steps:

  • If the machine is located off campus, please connect to the VPN. (Click here for more information)
  • If the machine has connected to the VPN, please restart the machine.

Once those steps have been accomplished, the following steps should locate Monterey.

  1. Spotlight search: Managed Software Center.
  2. Click on the magnifying glass in the upper left corner and search for "Monterey."
  3. The update should be listed for installation.

Additional notes

Occasionally, Monterey may not be listed even after following the above steps. If this is the case, please reach out to LSA Technology Services.
