Getting Started with Qualtrics & Self-Help Resources

  • Getting Started? Step one: Logging into the U-M Qualtrics Survey instance:
    • All U-M faculty, staff, and students have free access to the Qualtrics Survey platform by using their U-M log in credentials through the U-M Qualtrics portal:  https://umich.qualtrics.com/

      NOTE: Going to login.qualtrics.com will NOT log you into the U-M instance. Access through the general Qualtrics log-in will give you limited survey tools and access. 
  • Learn survey building and receive your Qualtrics Essentials Certification! Take the Qualtrics Platform Essentials Certification Journey (L1) This course will cover an introduction to Qualtrics, planning and designing a survey, building a survey project, distributing a survey, understanding survey data, and reporting survey results. 

  • Learn more about the fundamentals of Qualtrics by checking out this Qualtrics Survey Basics Overview. It covers the following categories: About the Survey Builder, Block Basics, Question & Editing Pane Basics, Survey Toolbar, and Navigation Basics, and Banner Notifications.

  • Need advanced support for your research project? The Research Software Programming group can work with you to create custom JavaScript to enhance your survey and add features or capabilities that are not built into Qualtrics already. This can range from advanced question randomization to adding interactive elements to your survey.

Speak with the Survey Experts for Support:

Included with our Qualtrics license agreement is free, 24/7 support and training directly from the survey experts at Qualtrics.

The support options available include chat, phone and email, these resources can be accessed on the Qualtrics support portal. Here is a link to a visual walk-through of this process: 

  1. Start by logging into the U-M Qualtrics instance:  https://umich.qualtrics.com/

  2. In the top right corner, click on the "Help" button. Then in the new pop-up window select "Contact Support".

  3. When the log in option comes up, click "Sign in with SSO". the U-M organization ID is: "umich"

  4. To ask general survey questions, select "I have a different support request" from the list of tile options. 

  5. The "Survey Platform" will be the Qualtrics product you are using. 

  6. Chat, email, and phone options will appear, choose whichever option best suits your needs.
    NOTE: The phone option will have someone from Qualtrics Support contact you with a provided ETA.

 

Additional Qualtrics Support:

Information Technology Services (ITS) can support the following requests. Email them at 4HELP@umich.edu​​​​ for support.

  • Create a departmental branded Theme.

  • Create a Qualtrics group to share Libraries with.

  • Manage group permissions.

  • Transfer ownership of surveys.

Alternative Resources for Qualtrics:

The following options should only be used if U-M Qualtrics support and ITS are unable to assist you with your Qualtrics needs:

  • ScholarSpace: You will also be able to set an appointment to get assistance from a member of the ScholarSpace team. Within 24 hours of scheduling your appointment, you'll receive a calendar invitation that will include the meeting URL.

  • ISR (Survey Research Center)- Paid service to create, conduct, and manage surveys from start to finish
