Environment

University of Michigan students, faculty, and staff

Answer

Microsoft Office 365

All students, faculty and staff are allowed to obtain Office 365 for free on their personal machines using their umich email as long as your affiliation with the university continues. To obtain your copy please sign up with Microsoft.

 Note
Microsoft OneDrive should not be used for storing University information. Please see the Safe Computing site for more information.

EndNote

All students, faculty and staff may use EndNote on their personal computers. Please contact us by submitting a service request to lsait@umich.edu in order to get EndNote on your computer. The software must be removed once you are no longer affiliated with the University.

ChemDraw/ChemOffice

All students, faculty and staff may use ChemDraw by going here and entering your umich email address (uniqname@umich.edu).

MATLAB

Students, staff and faculty can get MATLAB on their personal computers. There are different methods of getting MATLAB for students and for faculty and staff:

  • Students — Create a MathWorks account here for academic use using your @umich.edu address. You will then associate your account with a license using the code 45185-14754-78466-97054-77950 which will allow you to download and use MATLAB. For more information, see this ITS MATLAB article.
  • Faculty and Staff — Please submit a service request to lsait@umich.edu to get MATLAB installed.
 Note
MATLAB licensed under these conditions is never to be used for commercial use.

Software that can be purchased for personal use is listed on the Tech Shop page.
