Issue
I received an email from Slack with the subject, "Message from U-M ITS Slack Attendant" (or another sender). What is this email? Is it legitimate?
Resolution
- By default, Slack sends automated email notifications to alert you to alert you of mentions, direct messages (DMs), and replies to threads you're following while you are inactive.
- These are legitimate emails sent by Slack. You may confirm this by checking the sender, which should be U-M ITS Slack Attendant via Slack (notification@slack.com or notification@slack-mail.com).
- You can adjust your email notifications settings from your Preferences:
- Click your profile picture in the lower left corner of the app.
- Select Preferences.
- You should land on your Notifications page. Scroll to the "Notification schedule" section.
- Click the Set Email Notifications button.
- Your Slack account settings will open in a new browser window, where you can adjust these notifications as desired.
- U-M ITS Slack Attendant is the bot that automates some processes in U-M Slack and may occasionally send you messages as part of these automated processes.
