Issue
Kaltura Capture updates itself when new versions are released and the application is running but idle for about five minutes. Sometimes the software will not auto update. If you are experiencing issues with Capture you will want to verify you are running the latest version of the software.
Resolution
1. Check what version of Kaltura Capture is running on your computer
- Launch Kaltura Capture > Manage link > Information icon.
2. Check for the latest version
- Navigate to the Kaltura Capture Release Notes webpage.
- The latest version is shown at the top of the page.
- If you're not running the latest version complete step 3 below.
3. Install the latest version
- Click on the most recent version (from the step above) to expand the section.
- Links to the installers are located at the end of the section. Download the installer.
- Close out of Kaltura Capture.
- Windows: Kaltura Capture stays running in the system tray after closing the software window. You can force it to shut down by clicking into the System Tray (near the clock, click the up arrow), right-clicking on the Capture icon (light blue square with white dot) and choosing Quit.
- Mac: right click the app icon in the Dock and choose Quit.
- Install the software.
- Windows: Click the downloaded .msi file to install.
- MacOS: Double-click on the .dmg file to open. Drag the Kaltura Capture application icon to the Applications folder.
- Note: there are known issues with MacOS 10.13.6 causing out-of-sync recordings. If you're running Mac OS 13.6, please upgrade your computer for best performance.
