Issue

Instructor would like to set up appointment time slots in Canvas for office hours meetings with students.

Resolution

An instructor can use the Scheduler in Canvas. Scheduler is a Calendar tool that creates appointment groups within a course or group. Students can sign up for a time slot within the appointment group. Some appointment time slots may only allow one student to sign up at a time, while others may allow an entire group to sign up.

Additional Information

A Zoom meeting link can be added to the location section while setting up the appointment group. It is best to create the Zoom Meeting outside of Canvas at zoom.umich.edu. You can then copy the link and add it to the location section of the Canvas Appointment Group. You can use a Personal Meeting Room for this, but Zoom recommends that you create a regular meeting with the needed security settings for this.
