Issue
How to cancel a PAF (Proposal Approval Form)
Resolution
A PAF can be cancelled only if the following is true:
1. You are listed as the Primary Research Administrator* or as the Principal Investigator on the PAF
AND
2. The PAF is in one of the following states:
- Proposal Preparation
- Unit Review
- Unit Review-Project Team Making Changes
- Reviewer Making Changes
- Expedited Submission
*the Primary Research Administrator is set on the Project Administration page of the PAF or via the "Manage Administrative Personnel" activity if the PAF was already routed.
Note: Once a PAF has been sent through to the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), only ORSP can either Withdraw it or Turn Down the PAF.

ITS does not cancel PAF documents as a business process decision. It is far preferable for the study team to manage that activity.
